Jewel Tones: Deep Greens

I’m really enjoying the last month of summer but always looking ahead to the next season. Entering fall, richer colors and jewel tones return to our attention: those deep greens, blues, wine and amethyst hues. In a library space I’m pulling together (slowly) I’m waffling between a deep green and a deep blue and these inspirational spaces have me leaning towards #teamgreen.

Six months ago I was on a quest to find the perfect green for my office, and I did, but as we coast into fall the deeper hues are calling to me. Forest and hunter and olive and emerald. You know what looks really great with dark green? Natural wood, brass tones, black accents, bits of soft pink, and don’t forget greenery. I present deep greens paired with those elements for your visual enjoyment today.

Painting walls is no biggie, it’s just paint after all, but if you’re thinking of using deep green on a smaller scale, consider cabinets and furniture instead. Six years ago I painted a small campaign desk a glossy shade of kelly green and I still have that desk, it’s a favorite piece and it lives in my son’s room.

Do you have a favorite shade of deep green? If you’ve used it in a room or on a project, please share about it in the comments!
