It’s that time of year when we all start planning our holiday entertaining. If you have a small group of family or friends coming over, maybe you’re thinking of updating your space to include a scene stealing new credenza or sideboard.
Sometimes referred to as “casegoods” in the design world, sideboards, buffets, consoles and credenzas are freestanding pieces that provide additional interior storage for everything from dishes to decorative objects. Sideboards have short legs or no legs and their design resembles cabinetry while modern credenzas have thinner taller legs. If you’ve ever wondered what the real difference is between a buffet, a sideboard, and a credenza take a peek at this Houzz article explaining the differences.
There are many beautiful options available. Some of these are more affordable but most of these credenzas, sideboards, and buffets are investment pieces. What I also like about so many of these is that they are also great alternatives to basic media cabinets. These credenzas and sideboards are proof that a singular piece of furniture has the capability of making a statement and turning heads. They are incredibly versatile and can be used in foyers, hallways, home offices, living rooms, and dining spaces.
