Dalgona Coffee

Happy May!

This is Andrea from Cooking with a Wallflower, and this week, I’m returning with a brand new recipe to share on Ask Anna.

How have you been these past few weeks? How have you been keeping busy while sheltering in place at home? I’ve been doing so much baking and cooking lately. Mostly because I’ve had a lot more time on my hands. Things that I probably wouldn’t do on a regular basis due to time I finally got to do. Like bake bread. Or make pasta from scratch. Checking things off my to do list as the days go by.

Dalgona Coffee

So today, I thought I could share with you this dalgona coffee. You may have seen it all over social media for weeks now and wonder how to make it. And it is super simple.

If you love your coffee, and you’re looking for something a little different, this dalgona coffee would be perfect to try while at home. And great for impressing others too. It’ll feel as if you’re going out to a cafe and ordering a professionally made drink. But you can do this all right at home.

Dalgona Coffee

In a small mixing bowl, add instant coffee, sugar, and hot boiling water. Whisk together with a hand mixer until stiff peaks form. You do have to use instant coffee that doesn’t already have cream in it. Otherwise you won’t see stiff peaks. You can also do this by hand, but it will take a lot longer.

Once you get the stiff peaks, set aside.

In a glass, add your favorite type of milk and sweetener. I prefer almond milk or soy milk with a little bit of maple syrup and vanilla extract and crushed ice. The reason for this is that the whipped coffee will be very strong. You’ll want some sort of sweetener in the milk to offset the strong coffee flavor. Add just a tablespoon of the whipped coffee over the milk. More if you like, but the coffee will be strong.

Serve the dalgona coffee cold.

Enjoy!
